Welcome to the Bridgwater Shooting Club. How Real Men Shoot Clays

We shoot clays in beautiful Somerset countryside at Castle Hill, Cannington, near Bridgwater, where we have clay shooting rights over a varied terrain, allowing us to set up a different interesting sporting layout every week.

Clay shooting at Cannington takes place on Thursday evenings, through the Summer (see the Fixtures page for dates), starting at 6pm and finishing before dusk, in order to give us time to clear away. We set up 4 or 5 clay traps giving rounds of either 48 or 50 birds respectively. We can supply a club shotgun or two by prior arrangement (see Contact Us) and coaching is available from our BASC registered coach, Mike "The Butcher" Hill - again, by prior arrangement.

Please note that our permissions demand that we only use fibre wads - clay shooters found to be using plastic wads will be asked to leave. Also note that the ground is rented out for sheep pasture, and the landlord wishes are that dogs should be kept on leads at all times.

Ear, eye and head protection should be worn when shooting.

We also have a sporting clay layout at Weston Zoyland, and also an ex-RAF outdoor 25 yard rifle range on the old airfield there where there is permission to shoot rifle up to .577" calibre (with a limit on the muzzle velocity), and black powder pistol/rifle. Saddle carbines are very popular there. Shooting at Weston Zoyland takes place on Sundays from 10am to 1pm.

We are a very friendly club and non-members are always made welcome. Non-members should bring their Firearms/Shotgun licence (where appropriate) with them.
